May Comes to an End

Now that Noelle is branching out to more and more foods she gets a little annoyed if you eat without sharing or at least giving her something to munch on too.  Here Corey and I were eating pudding and she wanted some too.  Just be careful to wash her face quickly as she tends to crash into your shoulder and wipe it all over your shirt.  I know this from experience.

A week or so ago we took Noelle to the park.  The park was pretty nice and had shade coverings over the playground so it wouldn't be so hot.  Noelle liked the swing and went down the slide on her tummy a few times.  Once she can walk it will be hard to pull her away.

I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day holiday.  Ward friends invited us to a dutch oven dinner up on Mount Lemmon.  It was a little chilly up there--ha ha probably it was warm to you Utah people (I was wishing I brought a jacket).  I just finished the hat Noelle is wearing below.  I thought it turned out cute.  We had some delish potatoes and BBQ chicken, and then finished it off with some peach cobbler.  So good!

Speaking of sewing projects I also made these little bloomer shorts from a pattern I found online.  They turned out pretty cute.  I think I will make some more as they were super easy.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:  Noelle let me put pig tails in last Sunday evening.  They were so cute.  Grandmas already saw this, but I thought others should enjoy the cuteness too.

That is all.

Travelers

We had a lot of fun this past week with some great visitors.  Karen, Larry, Lesa, Gavin, and Sabrina all piled into a car and drove down to visit us in good old Tucson.  We are so lucky that we have family that like us enough to drive that far to see us.

After a day of rest, and then the day of rest (Sunday), we had fun visiting some local sights.

First stop on Monday was the Pima Air Museum.  There were many cool original and replica planes inside the museum, and then there were even more outside.

Due to the expansive outdoor viewing we opted to take a little tour bus around.

Our tour guide, Ed, was very nice.  Either his friends or he himself had experience with many of the planes we saw.  I may or may not have lost track of all the planes he was talking about. I liked the ones with faces painted on them.

And this one that looks like it ate a whale.

On Tuesday we went and toured the Mission San Xavier del Blac.  It was fun to see all the neat architectural things about the building.

Here are the brothers and their daughters.  Fur cute.

Aside from the sight seeing we had fun just hanging out at our place.  We had fun laughing at Noelle knocking things over and doing silly things like touching fingers with Uncle Gavin (or playing ET as he called it).  We could hardly stop laughing when Sabrina was trying to eat Lesa's cup.

Our visitor's departure date sure came around quick.  We snapped some photos before they left.  I had to get another snapshot of me and my niece.

Here's a cute shot of Noelle and Grandpa.

Here's the grandparents and their granddaughters.  I think they have two of the cutest granddaughters around (my totally unbiased opinion, of course).

Our house feels a little empty now that our travelers are home enjoying their own beds again.  Anyone else want to come visit?

Wipeout

Noelle has been having lots of fun with her blocks recently.  I probably shouldn't have shown her how to knock them down, but I did and she loves it.

The past few days Noelle has had a blast knocking down beautiful towers that everyone has been building.  As soon as Noelle would spy someone like Grandma Karen or Aunt Lesa building a new tower she'd head over and knock it down.  She's pretty thorough too, she usually makes sure there isn't a single block standing.

Here's a clip of Noelle destroying Aunt Lesa's tower.

Next week I'm going to encourage building things...

99...100!

Apparently this is my 100th post.  Nice.  To celebrate here is some good news on this Friday the 13th:
-Corey finished his last final!
-Corey is finished with his first year of law school!
-Corey is 1/3rd done with school!
-We have visitors in route!
-We got a genuine Slurpee today! (Surprisingly there aren't too many 7-Eleven's in town, other slushes in town aren't as tasty.)
-We're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate end of finals with some classmates!

Corey was off studying late the past few nights so I decided to get a few projects done once Noelle went to sleep.  This is one of the things I made--kind of random but it's very functional.  I wanted something to hold clothespins while I hung up the laundry that I could slide along the line.  My wire job is awful but hey, whatever works.

And since I haven't given a thrift find update recently here's some new stuff:
Seriously Tucson is a thrift/antique store gold mine.  There's one or the other or both on nearly every street.  If my sisters ever come to visit I've got some places to take them, ha.  There's one antique store that's roughly the size of a grocery store.  Anyway... I got a nice chippy chair for my sewing desk.  I might refinish it some time, who knows.  The seat is really short, which works out great for me because I always sew on the edge of my seat.  Now I can still sew on the edge of my seat but I have some kind of back rest too.

I have been wanting a chest for a months and found a sweet one for 10 bucks.  It still had tags on it from it's last trip--looked like Hong Kong.  We have all these wires on one wall that Noelle loved to play with that I wanted covered up.  Now the chest is there covering the ugly wires and holding some blankets. Corey thinks I'm nuts but I'm deeply considering adding feet to it someday and making it a short side table-ish thing.  I saw the idea somewhere online and it was kind of sweet, not going to lie.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a nice weekend!  Based on the heat outside I'm guessing Utah is delightful right now.  Enjoy.

Snack Attack

Noelle is becoming more independent everyday.

Sometimes she will decide she's needs a little snack and find leftovers from her last meal.  I was cleaning the kitchen the other day and found her standing under the table eating Cheerios.

Here's a snapshot of my flowers from Mother's Day/Anniversary.  Corey and Noelle were sweet and sent me some.  The shot turned out really blurry so I cropped it and increased the saturation to make it look artsy.  Look how artistic my photo is.

We are really excited to have some guests visiting this weekend!  We hope you travel safe!

On a completely separate topic, I decided to paint a rug.  It seems like everyone is doing it so I thought I'd join in the fun.  Cheap rug+sample paint=slightly more interesting rug than you had before.  I had fun and I think it turned out okay.

Cinco de Mayo

Today is our Anniversary, our fourth to be exact.

According to tradition gifts on the fourth anniversary should be flowers or fruit.  Well, we never pay attention to those rules and decided to do something else.

Yeah, we totally got matching Converse shoes.  We're nerds and we know it.  Funny thing is both of us feel a little weird wearing them today.  It's almost like the shoes are too cool for us.

Noelle and I are picking up Corey for a little anniversary-break-from-studying-finals lunch later today and we'll hopefully get a nice dinner in later this month when Corey is done with finals.

Hats Off To You

Noelle has started a funny thing of putting things on her head while eating.

Maybe she got the idea when we started putting clippies in her hair?

Last night Noelle was stacking yogurt bites on her head.

Who knows why, but it was funny.

On a completely unrelated note I decided to join a sew-a-long this month and sew a shirt for me.  I added the link on the side bar for fun. Made by Rae is a fun site, I still need to make some baby tights from her pattern.  Maybe I'll try to squeeze out a pair from my extra yellow striped fabric.  Anywho, here's my shirt.  I cut it on the bias to make the chevron stripes.  It was fairly quick to put together and is comfortable.  I need to start making more shirts, I feel so old walking around the mall these days not finding much I'd want to wear!
