Popsicle Wave

It has been hot hot hot here recently.  We've been doing what we can to keep cool.  Staying indoors, fans on, etc.

We have all been acting a little strange with all this heat.  For instance, Noelle has been eating peas (what, vegetables?)...and liking them.

Noelle has also been playing with monkeys.

Okay, maybe those things have nothing to do with the heat :)

I bought a Popsicle mold a few weeks ago and finally tried it out today.  I actually really like this mold so far.  All four molds pop out individually from a stand so you can take one or more out and run it under warm water before pulling it out--then the mold becomes the handle.  They think of everything.

We think Noelle likes Popsicles.  And sugar.  She's not used to either so she got a bit excited this afternoon when we were sharing ours with her.  Noelle doesn't like to be left out if you are eating something, she wants a bite too.  She's still not talking yet, but she certainly makes her point when she wants more :)

Weekend Details

We had another nice weekend.  We had some friends over for a game and treats last night, which is always fun.

Noelle is getting better and better at letting me put in pigtails (or perhaps I'm just getting better at putting pigtails on a moving target, ha ha).  Her baby goes away when I put them in, she looks like a little girly-girl.

I wore my new dress to church and got compliments on it.  It's a bit different from what I normally wear, and I was semi-proud that no one asked if I made it.  I started with a pattern but changed it a bit (collar, sleeves, etc).
This afternoon I decided to make candied grapefruit peel.  I love grapefruit.  It's pretty time intensive for what you get out of it, but it was still fun and my kitchen smells good.  I cooked it a few minutes too long so the sugar crystallized, but it's still good.

Snack Time

Noelle loves goldfish crackers.  She loves to munch on them during snack time.  What happens when she's eaten enough goldfish but mom offers her another?  Give it to Dad!  Such a considerate daughter.

Week Recap

Noelle practiced playing the guitar a little more on Sunday.  She'll be releasing her first album later this year (I kid).

Corey started work on Monday.  Per usual, I made him take a few pictures.  It's going well and he's sitting in on some interesting cases.  I asked Corey if he'd tell the judge just once as a joke "hey, don't judge me man", but he said no.  Apparently judges don't joke around much.

Noelle is doing her thing.  She's been practicing stacking blogs--I think she's wanting more applause from her grandmas and grandpas (she kept pausing stacking blocks on Skype to allow for clapping).   In fact she has started clapping herself.  It's so cute.  She only does it in front of the bathroom mirror right now.

I've been keeping busy with work and trying to keep the house under control.  I've been sewing a dress for myself from a 60's D.I. pattern (it's pretty sweet if I say so myself).  I'm nearly done, I'll share a picture soon.

Grrrrrr

Aunt Lesa, I hope you have a beary Happy Birthday!

(We are being growling bears here, in case that was not obvious).

**Aunt Tracey can pretend this was her birthday note too.  I kind of forgot to post that day.

Little Notes

Noelle is figuring out new things all the time now.

She's crawling a lot more (sad since her funky scoot is so funny), she's playing peek-a-boo behind the cupboard before she pulls out all the Tupperware (again), and she's testing the waters trying to climb on stuff (she sticks one leg on the coffee table--it's cute she looks like a ballerina stretching).

For a long time she's liked Corey's guitar and recently she's had fun playing it.
Here's a little clip of her strumming (after Dad reminded her not to eat the pick).

Unintended Fun

Recently we've noticed Noelle sometimes grabs a pen like she is going to color (sometimes she does if she's clicked the pen when she's banging it around), so I thought it would be fun to get out the markers.

She didn't have all that fun coloring because I kept grabbing the marker away (because she was swinging it around and I was afraid she'd eat it or get it all over herself).  Not really thinking about it I decided to link up all the markers.  Noelle thought it was hysterical.  Anytime I'd laugh she'd laugh even harder.  I guess the thought of one long marker just hit her funny bone.  This clip is after a few minutes of laughing (so she's wearing out), but it's still cute.
