Cheerio Darling

Despite refusing to eat most finger foods I try to give her, Noelle has taken to Cheerios.

Perhaps it had something to do with me eating them loudly and making her laugh trying to show her how to use your teeth.  She likes to pick them up herself, although it does take some time figuring out how to get the tiny Cheerio from her fingers to her mouth.  Sometimes she just gets a mouthful of fingers.

She has eaten approximately 2.75 Cheerios so far.  Sometimes we loose part of a Cheerio in her seat or on the floor.

In other news, we have spotted at least one new tooth that has broken on top.  The other one is not far behind.  There might be two on the bottom that are making their way up too--it's hard to tell.

I hope everyone had a nice President's Day weekend!  Apparently it doesn't warrant a day off in Arizona, so it will be business as usual at our place.

Recent Crafts

Time has flown since our Utah Christmas trip.  I haven't quite gotten back into the swing of sewing up a storm just yet.  Mainly due to my inability to decide what to sew next.

I mentioned while my mom was in town we made some sweater mittens.  Here is a picture of one of them.  Each one is slightly different.  My sister Tracey got a pair and said she is never taking them off.  They are seriously the warmest gloves I've ever tried on.  I used a pattern I found online (as usual) and they turned out well.

I've slowly been spending some of my birthday money.  Partially due to the fact that I went to the mall and could hardly find anything to buy.  That must mean I'm old, ha.

There are a ton of thrift stores around where we live and I sometimes go with Noelle and browse.  While I was checking out the lady in front of me had a cart full of what seemed like junk.  So when I got home I was telling Corey, "It's nuts, there are so many people at thrift stores that buy absolute junk".  He had a funny look on his face and I asked, "Are you thinking about how the rusty box I just bought is junk?".  And he was.  Anyway, maybe you had to be there.  It was funny.

Here's the before and after shots.  It looked worse in real life.  After a coat of spray paint I thought it looked pretty sweet.  I just need to get some file folders to stick in there to organize my recipes.

With my birthday money I also bought some beesewax.  I know, random.  I wanted to make some candles, so using some old jars I had around and some store bought wicks I made these.  I also just got that beehive cookie jar at the thrift store whilst looking for a cheap pot to melt wax in (so I wouldn't ruin mine).

Corey let me know that if he were me and got what I bought myself for his birthday he'd feel ripped off.  Funny.  I'm happy with what I bought, although it is a random mix of things.  I also bought a little linoleum block carving kit and I am working on a little design for fun.  If it turns out cute I might stamp some kitchen towels or something.

Dental Hygiene

Noelle loves to brush her teeth.

We always try to brush them for her, but she quickly grabs the brush herself and takes control.  If she's in a particularly sour mood (which is more common now due to some of those pesky teeth trying to come in) we let her play with it.

We are now accepting applications for those wishing to be Noelle's dentist.

Be Mine

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

**Image found via Google Image, linked to source

Our Valentine's tradition is to get pizza and then have a nice dinner some other night.  We've found that most of the town is usually waiting in ridiculously long lines at Olive Garden and not many are thinking about pizza.

Noelle got her first Valentine's present from Grandma Karen and Grandpa Larry.  She loved every bit of it...

Grandma Karen knows exactly what Noelle likes.  Toys...with tags on them (big surprise).  She went right for the tag.

In the theme of corny Valentine's:  Comb on over and be my Valentine!
Wa-wa-wa.  I couldn't resist.

Wish You Were Here

We had a lovely time having my mom and Amy ("Aunt" Amy to Noelle) come to town.  It was so fun having them over.  Below is Amy, Mom, and Noelle after church--Noelle getting a little tired of the photo shoot.

We gave them the grand tour of our yard.  Amy particularly liked our grass.  We went on a few walks by the "river" (quotes used due to the lack of H2O in this river).

Mom made her famous chocolate chip cookies since we have trouble duplicating them.  After fretting over the size of our eggs and adding some extra flour they turned out perfect--we knew they would.

Noelle learned from Grandma that apples are tasty.  But not if you bite hard enough to get a piece in your mouth.  She still doesn't like little peach crackers or bread or any other finger food just yet.  We're working on it.

Amy and mom were kind to let Corey and I go on a date Saturday afternoon.  We caught a movie and some dinner.  It was super.

Noelle had fun peaking out at us from time to time.  Peak-a-boo!

Mom and Amy saw a side of Noelle that they haven't seen before.  Teething Noelle.  Teething Noelle could buck you to the next state with her fierce kick if she wanted to.  We think/hope the thick of it is over and she is much more pleasant today.  We think there may be two to four teeth on their way in, we'll keep you posted.

We even took Amy and mom to the Tucson DI.  Mom had seen some cute sweater mittens someone made so we picked up a few grandma sweaters  and were able to get two pairs finished (I have two more to make).  They turned out super warm and pretty cute.  I'll post pictures later.

The visit flew by, as we knew it would.  Good thing we can video chat, otherwise goodbye's would be harder.

Thanks for coming all the way down here to see me!  Love you!

Happy Groundhog Day

According to my sources (the internet) Groundhog Phil did not see his shadow today so there will be an early spring!  Along with the rest of the country it's gotten a bit colder here too this week.  Today and tomorrow might not even break 50.  Don't worry Amy and Mom--it's supposed to be back to 65 by Saturday.  We are excited to have you come visit.

I had a nice birthday last week, Corey was sweet and made me a sprinkle cake when he got home from work.

We've just been hanging out this week.  Noelle is getting better at her worm-crawl and her teeth are slowly appearing.  We finally caught a picture of her newest teeth...can you see them?
